Movie Review: Bikini Bloodbath
Steven Ghillany
When you watch a movie with a name like Bikini Bloodbath you pretty much have to expect a low budget, fake blood drenched, boob-fest, and that’s exactly what it delivers. This movie makes every effort to be cheesy with as many obvious jokes as it can muster. With less than ten minutes into the film we are confronted with no less than five topless teens and an obvious setup for the bloodbath.
Rather than even try to be serious, Bikini Bloodbath goes for all out camp instead. The soundtrack keeps the camp rockin’ along using joke band tracks interspersed with grungier, sometimes punky selections as well.
The standard plot that has become a staple of bad horror movies, the old, “a bunch of hot girls have a female only slumber party” shows us exactly what could go wrong with a homicidal maniac on the loose. What really differentiates this movie from the others is not the generous amount of T&A or the completely predictable plot, but the extreme lengths it goes to for laughs.
Anyone who didn’t like high school is likely to enjoy how utterly stupid and completely homosexual football players are portrayed. To boot, the ever present lesbian gym coach seals the stereotypical deal. There is not an intelligent person in the entire film and pretty much all the female characters have hot bods, emphasizing what this movie is really about.
Long story short, if you are looking for an edgy scary or even gruesome movie, look somewhere else. If you are looking for quality acting, you aren’t going to find that here. If you want to see some embarrassing stuff that anyone participating in it is likely to try to cover up later, then this is your movie.
