Visions of the Divine July 2000
Mistress McCutchan
This gallery series is dedicated to creative interpretations of divinity.
Anat
Anat is the goddess of love and war in Phoenician culture. She has four different aspects; roles as mother, virgin, warrior and wanton. She is a bloodthirsty and lustful goddess, which is why shes been depicted as a vampire here.
Branwen
This Welsh love goddess is fondly gazing upon her beloved.
Anubis
This ankh (in itself, a symbol of eternal life) is personalised for Anubis, the Egyptian god of the underworld and preparer of the dead.
Erzulie
This Haitian goddess of love and beauty takes on many forms. Pictured here is Erzulie as a seductress. Sometimes she is seen as La Sirene the mermaid.
Hel
Hel or Hella is the Norse goddess of the dead. She is described as having a dual personality; half her face is that of a beautiful woman, half is that of a rotting corpse or she is half white and half black.
