Succubus
“Middle English, from Medieval Latin, alteration of Latin succuba paramour, from succubare to lie under, from sub- + cubare to lie, recline Date: 14th century : a demon assuming female form to have sexual intercourse with men in their sleep”
–as defined in Merriam-Webster’s dictionary.
Nyx
Greek goddess of the night. Nyx was the daughter of Chaos, and the mother of Death and Sleep. She was the most fearsome.
Arachne
The infamous Grecian weaver who foolishly challenged Athena to a contest of skill. Athena was so angered by Arachne’s work, she destroyed her tapestry and transformed her into a spider, leaving her to weave for all of eternity.
Azrael
The Angel of Death, also referred to as the Grim Reaper.
Nereid
In Greek mythology, nereids were sea nymphs, daughters of Nereus. They were salt-water dwellers, as opposed to the Naiads, fresh-water dwellers.
