Talent and artistic vision are things that I very much feel are in my blood as quite a few members of my family display natural ability. While I have had some formal fine art academic training at the university level, Ive advanced mostly by way of independent study and experimentation.
My professional background is in design the pursuit of which has occupied a better part of my adult years. Ive spent a lifetime in the study and drawing of the human figure, yet its only within the past 15 or so years that Ive seriously indulged in oil painting as a favored medium. I enjoy exploring allegorical, literary and esoteric themes in my work, many inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite movement.
Other major influences include DaVinci, Degas, Bernini, Durer, Klimt, Jean Delville, William Bouguereau, John William Waterhouse, Frederic Lord Leighton, Arnold Bocklin, John Atkinson Grimshaw, Alphonse Mucha and Susan Seddon Boulet among many many others.
From the Fall of 2000 until the Spring of 2007 I had residence in the (I hope) eternally romantic French Quarter of New Orleans technically, the Faubourg Marigny which is adjacent to the French Quarter. While these neighborhoods survived Katrina with damage negligible in comparison to other parts of the city it is nonetheless heartbreaking to have seen the results this tragedy has had on what was once a place of strange and magnificent exuberance.
