The Town of Autumn
Dylan Davis
Into the town of Autumn I went one fateful day; The afternoon was cold and bright The evening wet and gray.
Down the road I slowly wandered Through the soft October rain And passed a child who stared at me With eyes so old and full of pain.
I saw an angel at the Inn Warming by the fire; A devil sat and talked with him Of what did they conspire?
Inside the Pub I sat alone I watched a stranger drinking gin Another time I knew him well Another life wed meet again.
Into the graveyard mist I walked In the dark I struck a flame Before me was a tombstone And on it was my name...
The cemetery leaves rustled, whispered Secrets, and forgotten dreams... In the town of Autumn Nothings as it seems.
