Cesium 137 The Fall
Track Listing: The Fall (edit), The Fall (gasr - j4j mix), The Fall (matrix - morpheus mix), Language Without Lies (mothertongue mix), The Fall (obfuscated mix), The Fall (ricky roma mix)
Fantastic Philly-based modern synth pop. Its such a shame this cd is so short, but what a great introduction to this band! Coming to a dancefloor near you.
The Mirror Reveals Divinity e.p.
Track Listing: Divinity, Forsaken by Sky, Julia, In This Heaven Once More.
A beautiful sophomore album from The Mirror Reveals. It is especially nice to hear both male (James Babbo) and female (Kit Messick) vocals this time around, giving this the music a delicate sensitivity and passion.
Mortiis The Smell of Rain
Track Listing: Scar Trek/Parasite God, Flux/Mental Maelstrom, Spirit in a Vacuum, Monolith, You put a hex on Me, Everyone Leaves, Marshland, Antimental, Smell the Witch.
I have never heard a Mortiis album ever before, but the dark electronic on this album has great dance potential and is a lot of fun. Lyrics are very strange, but all in all a fun listen.
Deathwatch Beetle Repairman Hollow Fishes
Track Listing: Dream of the Hollow Fishes, Drying in the Sun, Deeper into This, Season of the Dead, Violet and Green, King of the Rooks, The Carny of Mr. Dark, Shrine of Lilacs.
This whole CD resonates with sounds that are non-traditional while still holding on to Gothic roots. The phrase world beat comes to mind. Venetian waltzs, old-fashioned carnivals, Indian chanting, and Spanish flamenco dances all sparkle in my mind when I listen to the Hollow Fishes CD. Mathew Riley wrote and performed all the music on this CD alone. He is an accomplished Sitar player who has recorded with many diverse acts including Sony recording artist Nelly Furtado. This certainly deserves a place in every dark connoisseurs collection.
