About the Author
The silly and sleepless Mistress McCutchan, otherwise known in the real world simply as Laura, created Morbid Outlook in August of 1992, while still a gothling in high school.

She is a freelance web designer, but also makes time to also design and make all sorts of stuff, DJ, dance as one-half of Serpentina as well as direct her Toronto-based troupe, The Serpentina North Ensemble. She is vegan, but not one of the pushy ones. When not working like a maniac, she can be found becoming one with the couch, especially if Three’s Company is on.

Soul Whirling Somewhere – Please Sennd Help
Track Listing: The Wedding, Nani, Aileron, Salt Angel, Shivering Fox, You Stutter When You Sleep, Box, The Sun In Braids, In On, Little Gaze, Gaze, Happy Valley, I Give Up. Goodbye.
The blending of SWS’s earlier ethereal sounds and later, organic accoustic create a melancholic soundtrack; sort of a David Sylvian meets Nick Drake. All the makings for a very bittersweet Valentine.
Belladonne 2 – A Sampler of Fairy Voices
Track Listing: Louisa John-Krol–Blackbird, Caprice–Princess me, Gor–Kalila, Daemonia Nymphe-Hymn to Bacchus, Jack or Jive-Darkwoods, Jaramar-Como una pintura, Gor-Trasfiguratio, Gor & Chako-Zleoun, Lys & Chako-lady Yin, Christian Wolz-Culoquia, Collection D'arnell Andrea-un parc, une tonnelle, Anima In Fiamm-Acano Manoscritto.
A fantastic sampling of the newest Prikosnovenie has to offer. A nice introduction for those of you who may be unfamiliar to the lush ambient and ethereal from this French label.
In the Nursery – Engel
Track Listing: New Religion, Beurereiter, Angejorium, Pandoramicum, Cathedral of Thoughts, Gabrielites, Engel-To The Faithful, Aftermath, Sigils, Brandland, The Circling Sky.
An epic soundscape, with ethereal dance tracks as well as ambient, lush auras of sound, as only In The Nursery can sculpt into the air.
Zoar – In the Bloodlit Dark
Track Listing: Wisteria, In The Bloodlit Dark, Nemo, Child Of God, Spiderlace, Ghosts And Molecules, The Beauty Of Obscenity, Nothing But This Light, A System Of Senses, Another Sky, Secrets Of The Dead
This darkly romantic soundscape with is the second, long-awaited album from Zoar. Woven with both real and synthetic instruments, this aural cinema evokes all that is esoterically beautiful. And their live shows are truly incredible.
Eternia – From Dungeon’s Luxury of Doubt
Track Listing: Rain, Shattered, Eternal, Why I Hate Children, Adore, Electric, Drown, Hidden.
This album has grown on me after a few listens and I think perhaps the best way I can describe it is as a great update of old school gothic rock. Too much of the new music being played in clubs is techno-based; Eternia has a good balance of guitar and synthesizer. Old school fans and even metal fans will get a kick out of this cd.
Gavin O’Loghlen & Cotters Bequest – Australian Symphonic Celtic Music
Track Listing: LLanfair pwllgwyn gyll gogery chwyrn drobwlllanty siolio gogo goch, Koyt Tredhewl-Trethevy Quoit, Ellan Vannin-The Isle of Man, Cloghans, An Bhorieann, Uairannean, Roisin Dubh, As Time Rolls By, Conversation With A Stranger, All Through The Night.
The beginning of this album comes off a little Riverdancey for my tastes, but as you listen further, there is nothing but soft, beautiful, authentic Celtic music to listen to. My favourite picks here include the third and fifth track. A must listen for Loreena McKennitt and Clannad fans.
