About the Author
The silly and sleepless Mistress McCutchan, otherwise known in the real world simply as Laura, created Morbid Outlook in August of 1992, while still a gothling in high school.

She is a freelance web designer, but also makes time to also design and make all sorts of stuff, DJ, dance as one-half of Serpentina as well as direct her Toronto-based troupe, The Serpentina North Ensemble. She is vegan, but not one of the pushy ones. When not working like a maniac, she can be found becoming one with the couch, especially if Three’s Company is on.

Terminal Bliss – Conspiracy of Silence
Track Listing: Stop The Rain, Shame, For A Moment, The Way Things Go, Last Dance, Forget, Down, Wish You Dead, Is This What You Wanted?, Searching For The Cure, Used To Be, River Runs Wide, Worlds Away.
This is an excellent synth pop album; it sounds very much like an album Depeche Mode wishes they put out. This sensual electronic is very easy to listen to and to like! For more information, check out www.terminalbliss.net
Rachel’s Surrender – Summer
Track Listing: Secret Lives of Angels (Prologue), Soul's Tide, Burn, Crimson Sky, Dreams Of A Child, Serrated, 6-4=3, Sleep, One Little Kiss, Secret Lives Of Angels (Epilogue).
Enchanting, dark bliss pop. An excellent follow-up to their album, Within the Tears of Winter, available on Seraph. For more information, check out www.surrender.com
Butterfly Messiah – Priestess
Track Listing: Land Beneath The Waves, The Wicked, Introspections, Serpentine, Visitor, Ring the Bells, Eternal Undone, When Autumn to Winter Resigns, Reverie.
A very promising new act in the gothic realm pairing synthetic and hard beats with soaring female vocals. For more information, check out The Fossil Dungeon
Lovespirals – Windblown Kiss
Track Listing: Oh So Long, Dejame, He Calls Me, Windblown Kiss, Our Nights, You Girl, How The Thieves Ride, You Are The Gun, Swollen Sea, I Can’t See You.
This album is most unexpected if you are a Love Spirals Downwards fan. Ryan Lum and company have changed directions (and changed the name of the band) from swirly ethereal pop to a jazzy lounge sound with sweet yet sultry singer, Anji Bee. It may not be something for the gothic ethereal set anymore, but nonetheless, it’s a soothing and soulful listen anyone could enjoy. For more information, see www.lovespirals.com
L‘ Odysseé – Prikosnovenie
Track Listing: Louisa John-Krol - Numb the Wren Tear, Fleur - Carousel, Daemonia Nymphe - Summoning Divine Selene, Gor - Consolamentum, Lys - Syrthes, Faraway - Apple, Rada I Ternovnik - Toy Dreams, Ashram - Forever At Your Mercy, Collection D’Arnell Andrea - Les chants de peine, Dwelling - A danca (Tecendo o Feitiço), Caprice - Spring, Voilaoz - Entrelacs.
Another divine compilation of fairy like voices, gorgeous ethereal, and occasional touches of Middle Eastern melodies from French label Prikosnovenie. If you have not gotten or heard anything from this label yet, what are you waiting for?
Caustic Soul – Parliament of Rooks
Track Listing: Harlot Sky, Trine, Eryx, Separation, Sick, Dead Doll, Aurora, Scarborough Fair, Goodnight.
This album is a healthy blend of melodic metal, hard guitar gothic rock, and industrial elements. I usually don’t listen to something so heavy-hitting musically, (and this album is definitely not for the meek) but I am really drawn to their cover of Scarborough Fair.
