Icon of Coil – Machines Are Us
Track Listing: Comment v.2.0, Remove/Replace, Consumer, Shelter, Mono:Overload?, Existence In Progress, Faith:Not Important, Transfer:Complete, Dead Enough For Life, Wiretrip, Android, Sleep:Less, Pursuit, Release The Frequency / Afterwords.
Icon of Coil has put out another highly listenable release. The lyrics are good, but this is not their best release. There are too many obvious influences from Apop on track 6 to Funker Vogt on track 13. “Dead Enough For Life” is this CD’s best track, followed close behind by the beautiful and haunting love song of regret, “Sleepless”. If you’re a fan you will like this CD, if not skip it.

Pzychobitch – The Day After
Track Listing: The Day After, Sweet Kiss, Upside Down, Insane, My Day (Day After - Version), Fitter Than You (VS Hanin Elias), Ego, Breakdown, Caress, Killing Smile, Nightmare, Suspiring Heart, 1 Behind The Door.
Pzychobitch, one of Europe’s greatest imports in years, uses very unique beats and samples. The songs are heavy and hard but soft and sexy at the same time; very unique in the Industrial music world. Every track on The Day After was made for fanatic lovers of the dance floor beat. The intricate and complicated layering of sounds and beats will keep both the layman and the professional musicologist infinitely happy. “Sweet Kiss” and “My Day” are the two standout tracks.
Highly recommended. For more information, check out www.pzychobitch.com
Wumpscut – Bone Peeler
Track Listing: Crown of Thorns, Just a Tenderness, The March of the Dead, Fear In Your Eyes, Rise Again, Final Warning, Fallen Angel, And Life Goes On, Our Fatal Longing, Scavenger, In the Peace Of Night, Your Last Salute.
After last year’s amazing, and practically ignored, Wreath of Barbs, this album is somewhat of a disappointment. I feel like this release was an ill-fated effort to get back to basics. This CD recycles most of the sounds and samples that Rudy has been employing since Wumpscut’s inception and frankly they are getting old. Despite all this “Fear In Your Eyes” is a classic dance floor hit. The Bone Peeler Box set is what you should purchase and not the CD alone. The 12" Remix record of “Rise Again (Naked Beat Remix)” and “Our Fatal Longing (W:XL Time-Doubled Version)” is worth the price alone!

Diva Destruction – Exposing the Sickness
Track Listing: Heathcliff, Hypocrite, Black Heart, The One, Playing The Liar, Forgotten, Tempter, Valley of the Scars, You’re My Sickness, The Abuser, When Trees Would Dance, Survive, Stolen Bliss, Dance Remix of Trees (By Julian Beeston).
Heavy Drums, piercing guitars, rockin’ female vocals, and spooky keyboards all lead to one of America’s only great current Gothic rock bands. This intense album is “dedicated to: all the victims of mentally abusive relationships.” This is a strong follow up to “Passion’s Price”. “When Trees Would Dance” is an original and very strong song with a great remix at the end of the album. Now that DD is on Metropolis records they are getting a lot more exposure.
Stay tuned for their third album this summer. www.divadestruction.com
Stellastarr
Track Listing: In the Walls, Jenny, A Million Reasons, My Coco, No Weather, Moongirl, Somewhere Across Forever, Homeland, Untitled, Pulp Song.
Simple happy Rock and Roll in the grand tradition of all the shoe-gazing bands we love. What else can I say; I heart this band. Check out www.stellastarr.com for more.
Goteki – Goteki O/S
Track Listing: Moshi Moshi, Autoloader, Piranha Advancement, Signal_One, Geisha Deconstruct, Ninjagrrl Signal Two _ Europa, Surveillance, Steam Virus, Signal Three _ America, We Go Chrome, pn55 / V. Instrumental, Phuturist, Unlimited Lives, Do not Listen to Goteki, Disquietude gv, Stop Save Restart.
For a band with such futuristic sci-fi lyrics, the music is surprisingly Gothic for a synthpop band. Formerly England’s Sneaky Bat Machine, Goteki rises to the occasion on their second release in this incarnation. (I also recommend the “O/S Corrupted Files” Remix CD.) Tracks 5, 11, and 13 stand out for their lyrics as well as their sounds.
After this months appearance at C10 in Chicago Goteki will hopefully get more exposure in America. Check out www.goteki.com
Terminal Bliss – The Art of Seduction
Track Listing: Where do I begin?, Stay Awhile, Wednesday, Poetry, Apple a Day, Dirty Mind, Now is the Time, Lose Control, Take It, My Other Life, Goodnight.
TB has released a great album filled out with everything from floating dance floor tracks to a few dark and heavy songs. The lyrics beg you to live in the moment. They speak of encouragement, desire, inspiration, immediate gratification, and all the other things a good album should warn you about. TB is saying something and letting dreamy atmospheric music tell many tales. “Take It” stands out for its Cure influence, and “Apple a Day” is lyrically one of the most interesting songs I’ve listened to in a long time.

Mephisto Walz – Nightingale
Track Listing: Nightingale, Witches Gold.
On this two-song release Bari-Bari’s signature guitar sound is as fresh as ever. “Nightingale” is beautiful and haunting while “Witches Gold” is poetic and epic. While reviewing this I was driving down the highway on a sunny 70-degree day. To say the least it was hard to get in the mood! But I was drawn in and felt the need to let the two songs repeat over and over as if they possessed my stereo. I only wish this had been a full album of new songs.
