Ten Questions with Michael Laird Unto Ashes
Mistress McCutchan
I really enjoy music, but it doesnt necessarily mean I want to read about it. If you think band interviews/reviews are a tedious read, try writing one! I thought it would be much more interesting to gain insight on the people behind the music with just ten little questions, straight from the artists to you...
1) Chocolate or vanilla?
Both: vanilla ice cream with the correct amount of chocolate syrup dominates
2) Do you have any pets and what are they?
I love cats; my favorite cat right now is called Claypool who lives at the recording studio where Ive been doing a lot of mixing hes the coolest.
3) Favourite place to visit?
Wherever theres a good round empty swimming pool for me to skateboard in!
4) Favourite article of clothing?
Shoes are pretty important. Outside I always wear steel-toed Dr. Martens 3-hole oxfords; inside, I like my Grinch footies.
5) Favourite piece of art?
Theres some eighteenth-century anatomical mezzotints by Jacques Gautier-dAgoty that are truly breathtaking simultaneously horrific and beautiful.
6) If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
A combination of Bugs Bunny and Road Runner :)
7) What are you most likely to be doing at 3 am?
Well I should be sleepying but most likely Id be tweaking on music.
8) Age you lost your virginity?
Next question please.
9) What piece of advice would you give to a teenager?
NONE OF THIS WILL MATTER WHATSOEVER IN TWO YEARS OR LESS RELAX AND HAVE A *GOOD* TIME. If you want to play music, start playing music immediately. It doesnt matter what instrument you pick up, it doesnt youre making and the process of discovering what sounds YOU like hearing. Always be true to yourself, and HAVE FUN!
10) What are you most proud of to date?
Besides some of the recordings that Ive been invovled with, I guess I should be proud of the fact that I havent smoked in over five years!
