About the Author
The silly and sleepless Mistress McCutchan, otherwise known in the real world simply as Laura, created Morbid Outlook in August of 1992, while still a gothling in high school.

She is a freelance web designer, but also makes time to also design and make all sorts of stuff, DJ, dance as one-half of Serpentina as well as direct her Toronto-based troupe, The Serpentina North Ensemble. She is vegan, but not one of the pushy ones. When not working like a maniac, she can be found becoming one with the couch, especially if Three’s Company is on.

Ten Questions with The Machine in the Garden
Mistress McCutchan
I really enjoy music, but it doesn’t necessarily mean I want to read about it. If you think band interviews/reviews are a tedious read, try writing one! I thought it would be much more interesting to gain insight on the people behind the music with just ten little questions, straight from the artists to you...

1) Chocolate or vanilla?
Summer and Roger: Chocolate.
2) Do you have any pets and what are they?
Summer: Chocol– oh wait, sorry, still drooling from the last question. I have two cats.
Roger: Cats
3) Favourite place to visit?
Summer: Hawaii. I have only been once, but I can’t wait to go back. It was so beautiful.
Roger: My bed.
4) Favourite article of clothing?
Summer: This grey cotton knit shirt I have. It looks really good on me and passes for casual or slightly nicer and it is really comfortable.
Roger: My Rev. J. Belick “Immortal Clan” t-shirt.
5) Favourite piece of art?
Summer: Currently it is Oleg Zhivetin’s “Her Flower.”
Roger: “Genesis” by Manuel Nunez
6) If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
Summer: Catwoman
Roger: An extra.
7) What are you most likely to be doing at 3 am?
Summer: Dreaming.
Roger: Sleeping.
8) Age you lost your virginity?
Summer: 15
Roger: I don’t remember, and would prefer not to.
9) What piece of advice would you give to a teenager?
Summer: There is no advice you can give a teenager. They have to figure it all out on their own.
Roger: Don’t run your life according to the most current fad.
10) What are you most proud of to date?
Summer: It is a toss up between my Master’s thesis and the most recent the Machine in the Garden album, “Asphodel.”
Roger: Nothing that’s stood the test of time really... I remember being very proud of my Master’s thesis, and all of the tMitG CDs... though of the CDs, I’d probably have to say “Veils and Shadows” because it was the first.
