About the Author
The silly and sleepless Mistress McCutchan, otherwise known in the real world simply as Laura, created Morbid Outlook in August of 1992, while still a gothling in high school.

She is a freelance web designer, but also makes time to also design and make all sorts of stuff, DJ, dance as one-half of Serpentina as well as direct her Toronto-based troupe, The Serpentina North Ensemble. She is vegan, but not one of the pushy ones. When not working like a maniac, she can be found becoming one with the couch, especially if Three’s Company is on.

Ten Questions with Butterfly Messiah
Mistress McCutchan
I really enjoy music, but it doesn’t necessarily mean I want to read about it. If you think band interviews/reviews are a tedious read, try writing one! I thought it would be much more interesting to gain insight on the people behind the music with just ten little questions, straight from the artists to you...

1) Chocolate or vanilla?
Robert: I eat more chocolate but I like the flavor of vanilla better.
Shannon: Vanilla soy ice cream with chocolate sprinkles.
Josh: chocolate tastes so chocolatey... mmm .. chocolate.
2) Do you have any pets and what are they?
Robert: I have Shannon.
Josh: I have little Josh. I also have 2 cats, Chacho and Asuka. Both dumpster kitties.
Shannon: I’m owned by Ichabod, a fluffy black cat and Batty, a tabby shorthair.
3) Favourite place to visit?
Josh: I’ve never been anywhere.
Robert: Japan, England, Norway, Iraq.... All good. I heard that Baghdad is lovely this time of year. The smell of burning children – perfect for American values.
Shannon: In the hollows of trees.
4) Favourite article of clothing?
Robert: Underwear – someone else’s of course.
Josh: My favorite pair of pantyhose. I like to wear them with short shorts.
Shannon: leaves and bark.
5) Favourite piece of art?
Shannon: Most recently for me the films Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi.
Robert: Yeah the Qatsi trilogy and the interpretation of Hopi prophesies is the most striking thing in the moment.
Josh: My vomit, after a long night of drinking.
6) If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
Josh: Happosai from Ranma 1/2 because I love stealing women's underwear.
Shannon: The goddess Ceres, from the series.
Robert: Gendo Ikari, Evangelion.
7) What are you most likely to be doing at 3 am?
Shannon: Dreaming.
Josh: Masturbating or working on music. 3 am. On the dot.
Robert: Working on music. *sigh*
8) Age you lost your virginity?
Josh: 16 or 17. It was a horrible experience because she had Bush's "Machinehead" playing on repeat in the background. That shit will scar you for life.
Shannon: 15.
Robert: 14, video games lead to much more.
9) What piece of advice would you give to a teenager?
Josh: If you're going to lose your virginity, be sure you listen to good music in the background, not Bush's "Machinehead".
Robert: Never let go of your childhood.
Shannon: There's a lot more to life than this.
10) What are you most proud of to date?
Josh: The music that we're doing today, how far Butterfly Messiah have come.
Robert: Eternal, our forthcoming album, is the best work we've ever done.
Shannon: I can tap dance.
