Ten Questions with Diva Destruction
Mistress McCutchan
I really enjoy music, but it doesnt necessarily mean I want to read about it. If you think band interviews/reviews are a tedious read, try writing one! I thought it would be much more interesting to gain insight on the people behind the music with just ten little questions, straight from the artists to you...
1) Chocolate or vanilla?
Thats a tough choice since I love sweets. It depends
on what it is, but I typically prefer vanilla.
2) Do you have any pets and what are they?
Two cats that I love dearly. One has a lot of medical problems now because she is getting older (I
have to give her 9 pills a day), but I would do anything for them. They are both silver chinchilla
Persians with long hair and huge green eyes. Their names are Precious (13 years old) and Sasha (1 year
old and very playful). They are both gorgeous and incredibly affectionate. I miss them so much when I
am on tours.
3) Favourite place to visit?
Prague. I was able to visit there twice last year after tours and I love the old architecture because it
is like going back in time. I went there for the first time after co-headlining the Wave festival in
Germany and I loved it as much as I thought I would. Its great when I can relax there at the end of the
exhausting European tours.
4) Favourite article of clothing?
My red velvet corset.
5) Favourite piece of art?
Any of the amazing and macabre sculptures by Thomas
Kuntz. He also created and filmed the characters in the recent Ohgr video, as well as sculpted one of my tour props that was a decayed heart on a trident.
6) If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
The Disney character Eeyore.
7) What are you most likely to be doing at 3 am?
Sitting at one of my keyboards and writing out sheet music. 3am is my most productive time to write music,
vocal melodies, and lyrics because I can concentrate the best when everything gets more quiet. Im a night
owl and I often work all night or two days at a time when I am on a roll with a song idea.
8) Age you lost your virginity?
15 and to my boyfriend who I dated for years. We were positive we would end up married, but it didnt happen.
9) What piece of advice would you give to a teenager?
Try to figure out what type of career you would truly love and at least try to pursue it, even if it has to
be simultaneous with something else. I actually went to law school and spent too many years studying something that wasnt my true dream. Music was always my real passion since I learned to play classical piano at a very young age. My parents pushed for me to get a stable career, but everyone really needs to live their life for themselves and not for their parents. It was really ironic since my parents were both very successful artists themselves, but that was why they knew it was so hard to make it as an artist. You really have to at least try to do
what you love full time, or at least part time, so you wont regret never trying.
10) What are you most proud of to date?
My new songs that will come out on my third album in spring or summer 2004. I am also proud that I am currently training to become a recording engineer, since there are very few female recording engineers. I am excited about learning Pro Tools and Logic software, so I can edit and record my own albums in the future. Although I have always co-produced my own albums, I know it will advance my writing if I can edit and record my own music.
